About Us
"At From Blocks 2 Boardrooms, our mission is to redefine the narrative for young Black men in our society, championing the potential within each individual. Led by the inspiring vision and dedication of Tahjudeen Gillespie - an Indigenous American Muslim, one who understands the fabric of social currency, Awareness Advocate, Community Activist, Empowerment Speaker, and an Ex-Felon - his strive is to be a beacon of hope and transformation.
Our core focus is to uplift, empower, and guide at-risk boys and young men of color who stand on the precarious edge of the school-to-prison pipeline. We believe in competing with the best version of ourselves, and in doing so, we provide comprehensive support encompassing educational advancement (Diploma/GED, Skill Trade, College), economic empowerment, leadership, team building, life skills, volunteerism, financial literacy, and manners (etiquette).
Understanding the profound impact of family and community, we actively seek partnerships under the 'Second Chance Act' to offer crucial support to families dealing with incarceration, thereby working to minimize repeat offending. Our initiative extends beyond individual mentoring to embrace family support, offering a positive and nurturing alternative to street life, gang involvement, and destructive choices.
In essence, From Blocks 2 Boardrooms is more than an organization; it is a movement. A movement fueled by the belief that it truly takes a village to effect meaningful change. We are committed to being that village, providing a supportive, empowering, and transformative environment where disenfranchised young men of color can thrive, achieve, and positively impact their communities and the world at large."
